White Racists Love Tea Party Candidate Rand Paul

Tea Party U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul is receiving financial support from racist, white  supremacists. According to Daily Kos, "Stormfront.org, which was founded to support David Duke for senate by another KKK Grand Dragon, Don Black, has been promoting and contributing to Rand Paul's moneybombs."  Stormfront's slogan is "White Pride Worldwide".  As the Southern Poverty Law Center notes, the mission of Stormfront is "to provide information not available in the controlled news media and to build a community of White activists working for the survival of our people."

There are two full pages on the Stormfront website dedicated to supporting Rand Paul's candidacy.  Encouraging Stormfront members to support Rand Paul, knightedsoldier 5000 writes,

"Keep those donations coming if you believe in liberty and want to put a major thorn in the side of our elitist career politicians.  This is a 6 year term folks, this is the bigtime. Whereas a representative like Ron Paul is one of 435 House members, RAND would be 1 of 100 Senators, which would make him 4 times as effective - it'd be like having 4 more Ron Paul's in Congress!!! Send in $20 or whatever you have, the entertainment value alone will be well worth the cost!!!"

Paul is receiving support from other racists as well.  The New York Daily News reports that:

"According to FEC records, at least three people associated with white separatism have donated to Paul.  Former Vanderbilt professor and self-described separatist Virginia Abernethy gave Paul $500 in March, records show. Separatist movement leader William Johnson gave Paul $500 in August last year, and Carl Ford, identified by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a member of the separatist League of the South, gave Paul $400 in March."

According the Courier-Journal, in response to calls for Rand Paul to return the donations,

"Jesse Benton, Paul's campaign manager, said in an e-mail that the money would not be returned."
"Dr. Paul is running to repeal Obamacare, create Kentucky jobs and cut out-of-control government debt,” he said. “Money will never buy his vote or influence his position. If people with small-minded ideas give him money, he will simply use it to fight for Kentucky values.”

His spokespersons insist that Paul opposes racism and discrimination.  To buttress their argument, his supporters emphasize that 20% of Rand Paul's staff is African American.  Certainly, the composition of his staff does not justify his failure to return the hate money.  If Rand Paul truly opposes racism and discrimination, he would immediately return the funds and vehemently disassociate himself from Stormfront.  When other prominent politicians received donations from questionable sources, they returned those funds.  It is time for Rand Paul to do the same. Until he does so, we should contact Rand Paul and demand that he immediately return the money.  Mr. Paul can be reached at 1-866-232-9747 or at 1-270-904-4862 or via email.

His mailing address is:

Rand Paul For US Senate
1019 State Street

Why not return the donations?  What point is Rand Paul trying to prove?

The more troubling question is why are racists supporting Dr. Paul?  Apparently, white supremacists and Rand Paul share some common values and interests.  Perhaps, racists support him because of his strong opposition to provisions of Civil Rights Act of 1964.  The white supremacists probably support him because of his opposition to illegal immigration.  Maybe, they may support his stance against institutions such as the Federal Reserve, World Bank and the United Nations. Are Stormfront and other racist groups supporting other Tea Party candidates?

Why isn't the mainstream media addressing this issue?  If it wasn't for the Grio, I would not have known about this issue.  However, the Grio has a limited audience.  Certainly, this issue is more important than whether or not his fellow Tea Party U.S. Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell participated in a witchcraft ceremony in her teen years.  That story was on the news for over one week.  We must continue to carefully monitor the Tea Party and its supporters.
